Staying safe online
We have had multiple reports of a recruiting scam that is currently using our logo, images and name. We have requested a takedown of these sites - but wanted to raise some awareness and give some tips on staying safe online and avoiding scams.
Job postings
This is where you can find our official job listings - or on our LinkedIn.
We do not contact over WhatsApp, Telegram or social media for recruitment and we would not ask for payment for job applications.
Our legitimate contact addresses can be found here. If you’re unsure if an email or message is from us please contact hello@byway.travel and we will be able to confirm for you.
We do not ask employees or contractors to pay for things out of their own bank account and then claim the expense back.
We do not use any crypto-currency or crypto wallets in our business
We are a London-based company and do not have offices anywhere else.
Fake websites
Some scammers imitate websites to try and make themselves look legitimate. Here are some ways to spot fake sites:
Check the URL. Our official URLs are https://www.byway.travel/ and https://trip.byway.travel/ (you’ll see the second one when clicking on a trip or for a journey guide). If it’s something different (for instance “www.byway-work.com”) it’s likely a scam.
Check for a secure connection. Ensure the website uses HTTPS rather than HTTP. Look for a padlock icon in the address bar.
Keep an eye out for grammar/spelling mistakes. Poor grammar and spelling mistakes can be red flags.
What to do if you think you’ve been scammed
If you’ve given any money or personal information, please contact the police and your bank.
Don’t click on any links or files sent by the scammer.
Do not continue to engage with the scammer.
It’s a good idea to change your passwords for added security.
